About

Thanks to her cat's urinary obstruction, Maile began working in veterinary medicine in 1998. She was a technician for two decades, spanning general practice to emergency and specialty medicine, before moving fully into management and administration. She has been with VERC since its inception in 2012, and she focuses on VERC's standard of excellence in patient care as well as the growth and development of the clinical team.

Maile concomitantly worked as an educator in the English department at the University of Hawai`i for more than twenty years; her passion for sharing knowledge is a fundament of her approach to clinical care, and she is very proud of VERC's continuing commitment to education.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Maile grew up on O`ahu and Big Island. She spent several years living in the contiguous U.S. and abroad before moving back to settle in Kailua. She spends as much time as she can on the water, and if you want to drop in—shoots! A`ole pilikia!
