About
Dr. Jennie Zhou grew up in Kalihi, where her love for animals took root early, sparked by a mix of childhood curiosity and a little inspiration from Ace Ventura. What started as a fun fascination quickly turned into a clear calling to care for animals and support the people who love them.
She took that dream to the mainland, earning her biology degree and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. Shortly after, she completed a rotating internship at VCA West Los Angeles, where she built her clinical foundation and formed some of her most meaningful friendships. Since then, she has worked as a relief veterinarian across Denver in general practice, urgent care, and emergency/specialty hospitals.
After 19 years away from the islands, Dr. Zhou is proud to return home to serve the community that shaped her. She is especially excited to return to VERC, where she was first introduced to emergency medicine and developed a passion for its fast-paced, collaborative approach to high-quality patient care. Her interests include emergency and outpatient care, as well as the human–animal bond. Outside the hospital, she maintains an active, Colorado-influenced outdoor lifestyle and always comes home to her COVID cat, Black Barbie.
